Overview
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is located approximately 20 kilometres northwest of central Jakarta, in the Tangerang area of Banten province, Indonesia. Opened in 1985, it replaced the older Halim Perdanakusuma airport as Jakarta's primary commercial gateway and serves as the main international hub for the world's fourth most populous nation.
Terminals & Runways
The airport operates three passenger terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 handle predominantly domestic and regional traffic, while the modern Terminal 3, significantly expanded in recent years, serves as the primary international and full-service terminal. Two parallel east–west runways support operations, and the airport functions around the clock on a 24/7 basis.
Airlines
Garuda Indonesia and Citilink use Soekarno-Hatta as their primary hub, while Lion Air and its affiliates treat it as a major focus city. Numerous international carriers connect the airport to hubs across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia, reflecting its role as one of Southeast Asia's most significant aviation gateways.
