Sriwijaya Air is a privately owned Indonesian scheduled airline founded in 2003. Established by Indonesian aviation entrepreneurs, it developed as a value-oriented carrier serving the country’s widely dispersed island communities. The airline operates under the Sriwijaya Air name and SJ code, while its identity remains separate from Indonesia’s larger flag and low-cost carriers.

Jakarta is Sriwijaya Air’s primary hub and busiest departure point, supported by important operations in Makassar, Surabaya, Balikpapan and Medan.
