Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport sits in the Bao'an district of Shenzhen, Guangdong province, roughly 32 kilometres from the city centre. The airport opened in 1991, replacing earlier limited facilities as Shenzhen's rapid urban expansion demanded a full-scale aviation hub.
