About Brisbane Airport
Overview
Brisbane Airport is the primary international gateway for Queensland, Australia, located approximately 14 kilometres north-east of the Brisbane CBD. It serves as one of Australia's busiest airports, handling both domestic and international traffic for the state's capital. The current airport site replaced the earlier Eagle Farm aerodrome and has operated in its modern form since the mid-twentieth century.
Terminals & Runways
The airport operates two main terminals: a dedicated international terminal and a separate domestic terminal connected by the AirTrain rail link and a free inter-terminal bus. Two parallel runways — oriented roughly north-south — allow simultaneous independent operations. The airport operates 24 hours daily. A third runway project is under development to expand capacity.
Airlines
Qantas and Virgin Australia maintain significant domestic operations here, with Jetstar also using Brisbane as a focus city. Internationally, carriers including Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand, and United Airlines serve the airport, connecting Queensland to major hubs across Asia, the Pacific, and beyond.
