About Sky Airline

Sky Airline is a privately owned Chilean low-cost carrier founded in 2001, with commercial operations beginning the following year. It initially competed as a conventional regional airline before adopting the low-cost model, emphasizing direct sales, simplified fares and optional extras. The carrier uses the IATA code H2 and ICAO code SKU, and its identity is closely associated with affordable domestic travel in Chile and short-haul connectivity across western South America.

Santiago is Sky Airline’s primary hub and the largest departure point in its network. Antofagasta, Arica, Calama and Puerto Montt are also important operating bases. The airline serves 17 destinations across four countries through 63 routes, linking Santiago with major Chilean cities and selected international markets. Its network includes Antofagasta, Iquique, Concepción, Temuco and Balmaceda in Chile, as well as Lima in Peru.

Aircraft types associated with Sky Airline include the Airbus A319, Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-200, although its modern operations have become increasingly centered on newer Airbus A320-family aircraft. The airline generally uses a single Economy Class cabin suited to short- and medium-haul flying. Different fare bundles determine whether checked baggage, seat selection, ticket changes and other services are included or must be purchased separately.

Sky Airline is not a member of Star Alliance, SkyTeam or Oneworld, so passengers should not expect reciprocal alliance benefits such as shared status recognition or lounge access. Its commercial model focuses primarily on point-to-point travel and separately priced services rather than the extensive mileage partnerships associated with global network airlines. Travellers should review the benefits attached to their selected fare instead of assuming that common full-service privileges are included.

A notable strength is Sky Airline’s coverage of Chile’s long, geographically dispersed domestic market, with several northern and southern cities accessible from Santiago and other regional departure points. Its low-cost structure can produce competitive base fares, particularly for passengers travelling lightly. The main challenge is that the final price can rise once baggage, preferred seating and flexibility are added, making careful fare comparison important before booking.

Good to know

Flying with Sky Airline — what to expect

Check Fare Inclusions

Sky Airline’s fare bundles include different combinations of baggage, seat selection and flexibility. Compare the complete trip price rather than relying only on the initial base fare.

Baggage Costs Extra

The lowest fares may include only a small personal item, while larger cabin bags and checked baggage can cost extra. Buying baggage in advance is generally preferable to adding it at the airport.

Single Economy Cabin

Flights are generally operated with an all-Economy cabin. Seat selection may require an additional payment, with extra-legroom or preferred locations priced separately where available.

Allow Connection Time

Santiago is the airline’s main connecting point, but low-cost itineraries may provide fewer recovery options after disruption. Leave a sensible buffer, especially when connecting to a separately booked flight.

Use Online Check-In

Check in online when eligible and confirm the airport deadline shown with the booking. Airport services or document checks may require additional time on international journeys.

Thieves

EconomyLima - Arequipa

Awful, I paid for a carry-on bag, and because the wheel didn’t fit in their box, they charged an extra $40 dollars, unbelievable! This same bag fits in Latams box just fine. Their employees were also so rude, avoid this airline if you can.

Disgusting Service – No customer service skills whatsoever

EconomyCusco - Lima
We wanted to purchase carry on bags online for $27 each but the website was not working. We went to the airport expecting them to assist us but the employee laughed and said it’s $40 each at the airport. We explained that the website didn’t work and we See moreSee less

Everything about this airline is wrong

Worst airline ever!!!!!! All our flights were rescheduled to very inconvenient times, and when we tried to get a refund for our tickets (which we were entitled to according to the airline's policy), we only got refunded 14% of what we paid! Furthermore, the See moreSee less

Do not fly with Sky Air

EconomyCusco - Lima
I flew from Cusco to Lima. The staffs at the gate had me measure my carry on at their gate. My carry on was able to go through the slot but it got stuck from the handle that attached in the middle luggage. They made me pay $36 for a carry on that I already See moreSee less

We had no problems with this airline!

EconomyMiami - Lima
Despite all negative reviews for Sky Airline, we had no problems with them at all. We flew from Miami to Lima and back and both ways we had no issues. We booked the light fare and we had only one piece of luggage. They only looked at it to make sure we didn't See moreSee less
