About Mann Yadanarpon Airlines

Mann Yadanarpon Airlines is a privately owned Myanmar carrier established on 23 July 2013, with scheduled operations beginning in 2014. It trades under a name referencing Mandalay’s former royal capital and is incorporated as Mann Yadanarpon Airlines Company Limited. The airline was created to improve domestic air links between Myanmar’s principal cities, regional business centres and tourism destinations.

Mandalay International Airport is its primary hub, while Yangon serves as another important operating point. Its domestic network has included Nay Pyi Taw, Nyaung-U near Bagan, Heho for Inle Lake, Tachileik, Myitkyina, Lashio, Thandwe, Sittwe, Dawei, Myeik and Kawthaung. Routes and frequencies may change with seasonal demand, aircraft availability and local operating conditions.

The airline uses ATR 72-600 turboprops, an aircraft family well suited to relatively short sectors and regional airports. The fleet has consisted of three aircraft, including two delivered when operations began and a third added in 2019. Flights generally offer a single economy cabin, with service designed for short domestic journeys rather than the multiple cabin classes found on larger international airlines.

Mann Yadanarpon Airlines does not belong to Star Alliance, SkyTeam or Oneworld. It operates its own MYP Reward Program, through which registered passengers can earn points for eligible sectors and redeem them for flight rewards under the programme’s rules. Travellers should not assume that benefits or points can be transferred to the loyalty schemes of international partner airlines.

A practical strength is the airline’s ability to connect Yangon and Mandalay with destinations that can require lengthy overland journeys, particularly tourism gateways such as Bagan, Inle Lake and Ngapali. The trade-off is a comparatively small fleet and a limited domestic network, so schedules can be less resilient when weather, maintenance or operational disruption affects an aircraft. Flexible itineraries are advisable when connecting to separate international tickets.

Good to know

Flying with Mann Yadanarpon Airlines — what to expect

Seasonal Route Changes

Some domestic routes operate according to seasonal demand. Reconfirm the schedule directly with the airline before arranging hotels or separate onward flights.

Turboprop Operations

Services use ATR 72-600 turboprops, which are appropriate for short domestic sectors but may feel noisier than larger jets. Cabin storage is also more limited, so compact hand luggage is helpful.

Check In Early

Domestic airport procedures and manual document checks can take time. Arrive well before departure and carry your booking reference, identification and any documents required for local travel.

Check Baggage Terms

Baggage allowances may depend on the fare and current operating rules, while the ATR cabin limits space for larger bags. Verify both checked and carry-on allowances on your ticket before travelling.

Allow Connection Time

Avoid tight self-connections, particularly when transferring to an international flight on a separate booking. A small fleet gives the airline fewer options for recovering quickly from operational disruption.
