About Air Cambodia

Air Cambodia began operations in 2009 under the Cambodia Angkor Air identity and adopted its present brand in 2025. The airline was established as a joint venture involving the Cambodian government and Vietnam Airlines, but it is now under Cambodian state ownership. It retains the K6 IATA code and serves as a nationally identified scheduled carrier focused on short regional journeys.

Siem Reap is the airline’s busiest departure hub by number of routes, followed by Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City and Sihanoukville. Air Cambodia operates eight routes serving four destinations across Cambodia and Vietnam. Its compact network links Cambodia’s capital and principal tourism centres with Ho Chi Minh City, providing domestic connections as well as short international services.

Aircraft types used on the recorded network are the Aerospatiale/Alenia ATR 72 and Airbus Industrie A321. The ATR 72 turboprop is well suited to short sectors and airports with modest traffic, while the larger A321 narrow-body can accommodate busier services. Cabin layout and onboard amenities may differ by aircraft, with economy class forming the core product and premium seating dependent on the operating configuration.

Air Cambodia does not belong to Star Alliance, SkyTeam or Oneworld, so travellers should not expect the network-wide recognition or reciprocal benefits associated with a major global alliance. Its own frequent-flyer programme is AngkorWards. Eligibility for earning or redeeming rewards can depend on the fare, route and booking class, and passengers should verify current programme conditions before purchasing a ticket.

A practical strength of Air Cambodia is its direct coverage of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, allowing travellers to combine Cambodia’s major commercial and tourism centres without connecting through another country. The main limitation is scale: with only four destinations and eight routes, schedules and alternatives can be limited. A cancellation or missed connection may therefore involve a longer wait than on a larger airline.

Flying with Air Cambodia — what to expect

Small Route Network

Air Cambodia serves four destinations on eight routes. Check operating days carefully because a small network may offer fewer same-day alternatives when plans change.

Aircraft Types Vary

Services may use an ATR 72 turboprop or an Airbus A321 narrow-body. Cabin space, seating and onboard facilities can therefore differ between flights.

Confirm Your Airport

Verify the airport and terminal shown on your ticket, especially for Phnom Penh services. Airport arrangements and transfer times can change independently of the airline’s published departure time.

Check Baggage Terms

Cabin and checked-baggage allowances may vary by fare, route and aircraft. Review the conditions attached to your booking, particularly when travelling on the smaller ATR 72.

Allow Connection Time

Leave a generous buffer when connecting, especially on separate tickets. Limited frequencies can make rebooking more difficult if an inbound flight is delayed.
