Tajikistan
Tajikistan is Central Asia's most mountainous country, where more than 90 percent of the land sits above 1,000 metres and the Pamir range presses against the sky in shades of ochre, slate, and rust.
Overview
Landlocked in Central Asia, Tajikistan borders Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, China to the east, and Afghanistan to the south. Its capital is Dushanbe, and Tajik is the official language alongside Russian as a lingua franca. The currency is the Tajikistani somoni. The country's cultural identity is deeply rooted in Persian heritage, with a strong tradition of oral poetry, intricate handicrafts, and communal tea-house life.
Visa Requirements
Many nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival or apply through Tajikistan's official e-Visa portal before travel, which covers standard tourist entry. Citizens of certain post-Soviet and neighbouring states may enter visa-free. Requirements and eligible nationalities change periodically, so verifying current terms through the official government portal before departure is strongly advised.
