Oman

Oman occupies the southeastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, where red-rock wadis, rolling sand dunes, and a 3,165-kilometre coastline meet a society shaped by centuries of maritime trade and a quietly confident national identity.

Overview

Bordering Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Yemen, with coastline along both the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman, Oman covers approximately 309,500 km². Its capital, Muscat, is the political and commercial centre. Arabic is the official language, and the Omani rial is the currency. Culturally, Oman is distinct within the Gulf — majority Ibadi Muslim, historically outward-looking through its seafaring past, and notably measured in its approach to modernisation.

Visa Requirements

Many nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival or through Oman's official eVisa portal before travel. Gulf Cooperation Council nationals generally enter without restriction. Requirements vary by passport, so travellers should consult the Royal Oman Police eVisa system or their nearest Omani consulate well in advance of travel.
