About Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport

Overview

São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport sits roughly 25 kilometres north-east of central São Paulo, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It serves as the country's primary international gateway and one of the busiest airports in Latin America. The airport opened in 1985, replacing Congonhas as the region's main long-haul facility while Congonhas continued handling domestic traffic.

Terminals & Runways

The airport operates three passenger terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 handle the majority of domestic and international flights, while Terminal 3, a more modern structure, accommodates additional capacity. Two parallel runways oriented roughly east–west serve the airfield. The airport operates around the clock with no curfew, and infrastructure upgrades have been ongoing since its privatisation in 2012.
