About DOH

Overview

Hamad International Airport lies about 15 kilometres southeast of central Doha, on Qatar's eastern coast along the Persian Gulf. It serves as the primary international gateway to the country and a major hub connecting Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. The airport opened in 2014, replacing the older Doha International Airport, and was built largely on reclaimed land.

Terminals & runways

The airport operates a single integrated passenger terminal organised around a central concourse with multiple piers handling international departures and arrivals, including dedicated premium areas. Two parallel runways aligned roughly north–south allow simultaneous operations, and the facility runs 24 hours a day. A substantial expansion has added new concourses and broadened capacity to support continued traffic growth.

Airlines

Hamad International is the home base of Qatar Airways, which operates an extensive long-haul network from the airport and anchors the majority of movements. Its low-cost subsidiary also bases operations here. Beyond the home carriers, most major Gulf, European, Asian and African airlines serve Doha, making the airport one of the busiest transfer points in the Middle East.
