About Regional Jet OÜ
Regional Jet OÜ was established in 2015 in Estonia as part of the state-owned Nordic Aviation Group, whose passenger-facing airline was Nordica. The company later adopted the Xfly brand, while Regional Jet remained its legal name. Its principal business was supplying aircraft, crews, maintenance and insurance to other airlines rather than developing a large independent consumer brand and route network.
The operator was headquartered in Tallinn and associated with Tallinn Airport, although its aircraft frequently worked from bases elsewhere in Europe under contracts with partner carriers. Flights were sold and marketed mainly by those partners, so destinations, schedules, ticket conditions and airport operations varied according to each agreement rather than forming a stable Regional Jet network of its own.
Regional Jet operated regional aircraft including Bombardier CRJ900 jets and ATR 72-600 turboprops, and the wider Xfly operation also introduced Airbus A320-family aircraft. Cabin layouts and service standards depended on the airline contracting the aircraft. Most flying used single-cabin or economy-focused configurations, with any business-class treatment, catering or preferred seating determined by the marketing carrier.
Regional Jet was not a member of Star Alliance, SkyTeam or Oneworld and did not maintain a widely used frequent-flyer programme of its own. When flights were operated for an alliance airline or another partner, mileage earning, status benefits and lounge access were governed by the airline shown on the ticket and by the applicable operating and marketing-carrier rules.
The ACMI model gave European airlines flexible access to regional aircraft and experienced crews, particularly when additional capacity was needed. For travellers, however, the changing partner network could make the Regional Jet identity confusing, since the aircraft operator might differ from the airline selling the flight. Nordic Aviation Group and its operating businesses encountered severe financial difficulties, and Regional Jet’s subsequent insolvency means travellers should not expect a current standalone scheduled network under this name.
