About Avianca Peru
Avianca Peru was a Peruvian scheduled carrier established in 1999 as TACA Peru. It adopted the Avianca Peru identity in 2013 as the airlines associated with Avianca and TACA consolidated under a single commercial brand. The company belonged to the wider Avianca group rather than operating as an independent flag carrier. In May 2020, Avianca Holdings announced the closure and liquidation of the Peruvian subsidiary, ending its scheduled services.
The airline's primary hub was Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima. From there, it served important Peruvian cities and connected passengers with destinations elsewhere in South America, Central America, the Caribbean and North America through Avianca's regional network. Lima was also a transfer point for travellers continuing on other Avianca-operated services. Because Avianca Peru is no longer operating, none of these routes should be treated as a current timetable.
Avianca Peru mainly used Airbus narrow-body aircraft from the A319 and A320 families, while aircraft allocation could vary across the wider Avianca network. Economy Class was offered throughout the network, with Business Class available on selected aircraft and routes. Service standards, baggage allowances and onboard inclusions depended on the fare, cabin and itinerary, particularly when a journey included flights operated by another Avianca group airline.
Through the Avianca network, the carrier participated in the Star Alliance system and offered access to partner connections and benefits subject to status and itinerary rules. Its associated frequent-flyer programme was LifeMiles, which remains Avianca's loyalty programme. Members could earn and redeem miles on eligible Avianca services and participating partners, although travellers holding old Avianca Peru records or credits should contact Avianca or LifeMiles to establish whether anything remains valid.
Avianca Peru's principal strength was its integration with a broad network from Lima, giving domestic passengers access to international connections under the Avianca brand. Its closure, however, means the former airline's IATA code T0 and historical route information are no longer useful for booking current travel.
