About Air Alsie
Air Alsie was founded in 1989 by Danish businessman and pilot Jens Østerlund Jensen. Based in Sønderborg, the company developed primarily as a business-aviation operator providing aircraft management, charter and maintenance services. Air Alsie and the customer-facing scheduled carrier Alsie Express are part of the privately owned Sandma Holding group.
Sønderborg Airport is the centre of Air Alsie's operations. Through Alsie Express, it operates the principal scheduled link between Sønderborg and Copenhagen, giving southern Denmark access to the capital and Copenhagen Airport's wider network. Limited seasonal services from Sønderborg have also included Bornholm and direct leisure links to Italian cities such as Pisa and Naples, although these do not operate year-round.
The scheduled operation is flown with ATR 72-500 turboprops, an aircraft family well suited to relatively short regional sectors. Configurations can vary, but passengers should expect a single economy-style cabin rather than separate business and economy classes. Air Alsie's wider managed and charter fleet includes business jets, notably aircraft from the Dassault Falcon family, which are not normally used for regular Alsie Express services.
Air Alsie is not a member of Star Alliance, SkyTeam or Oneworld, and its scheduled network is not designed as a large connecting system. The airline does not operate a conventional points-based frequent-flyer programme. Its Copenhagen service can nevertheless be useful for travellers connecting independently to other airlines, provided they leave sufficient time and understand that separately issued tickets may not include connection protection.
