Overview

Grenada lies in the southeastern Caribbean Sea, roughly 160 kilometres north of Venezuela, and comprises the main island plus the smaller Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The capital, St. George's, is widely regarded as one of the more architecturally coherent Caribbean capitals, arranged around a natural harbour. English is the official language and the Eastern Caribbean dollar the currency. The country gained independence from Britain in 1974 and carries a mixed Afro-Caribbean and French-inflected cultural identity.

Visa Requirements

Citizens of many countries — including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and EU member states — can enter Grenada visa-free for short stays. Visitors are generally required to hold a valid return or onward ticket and proof of accommodation. Grenada does not operate a widely publicised eVisa platform; travellers should consult the official Grenada government portal or their nearest diplomatic mission for current entry conditions.

Grand Etang National Park shelters a crater lake at roughly 530 metres elevation surrounded by montane forest. Fort George, an 18th-century British fortification, overlooks St. George's Harbour. Weather & Climate

Grenada has a tropical climate with two broad seasons. The dry season runs roughly from January to May, with temperatures between 24 °C and 30 °C; the wet season spans June to December, coinciding with the Atlantic hurricane season, though Grenada sits slightly south of the main hurricane belt. Temperatures vary little year-round. The dry season is generally the most comfortable time to visit. Light rain gear is useful even in drier months given afternoon showers at higher elevations.
