Dominica
Dominica is one of the Caribbean's least-altered islands — steep volcanic ridges, dense rainforest, and boiling lake craters define an interior that sees more hikers than sun-seekers. There are few white-sand beaches; the coastline is mostly dark volcanic rock and cliff. Rain comes frequently, feeding rivers and waterfalls that run year-round.

Overview
Located in the Eastern Caribbean between Guadeloupe and Martinique, Dominica covers roughly 750 square kilometres. Its capital is Roseau. English is the official language, though Dominican Creole is widely spoken in daily life. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is the currency. The island has a predominantly Afro-Caribbean population and is home to one of the last surviving Kalinago (Carib) indigenous communities in the region.
