Cape Verde

Cape Verde is an Atlantic archipelago of ten volcanic islands sitting roughly 570 kilometres off the west coast of Africa, shaped as much by the sea as by the desert winds that blow in from the Sahara. The islands range from the sharp, green peaks of Santo Antão to the flat salt flats of Sal, and the culture — a blend of Portuguese colonial history and West African rhythm — is distilled most purely in the melancholic music called morna.
