Wallis and Futuna
Wallis and Futuna is a French collectivity scattered across two island groups in the South Pacific, roughly midway between Fiji and Samoa. Volcanic peaks drop sharply to lagoons ringed by reef, and the pace of daily life is shaped as much by Polynesian custom and chiefly authority as by French administration. Breadfruit trees line unpaved tracks, and the air carries the salt of open ocean.
