Paraguay
Paraguay sits landlocked at the heart of South America, divided by the Paraguay River into the fertile eastern plains and the vast, dry Chaco scrubland to the west. The pace of life runs unhurried; tereré — cold herbal mate — is passed between neighbors at nearly every hour of the day.
About Paraguay
Overview
Paraguay borders Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. Its capital, Asunción, is one of South America's oldest continuously inhabited cities. The official languages are Spanish and Guaraní, the latter spoken by the majority of the population and woven into everyday conversation. The currency is the guaraní. The country is largely agricultural, with soy and cattle underpinning much of its economy.
