About Paris Orly Airport
Overview
Paris Orly Airport lies approximately 13 kilometers south of central Paris, straddling the communes of Orly and Villeneuve-le-Roi in the Île-de-France region. It serves as the secondary international gateway for the French capital, complementing the larger Charles de Gaulle to the north. Opened to commercial traffic in 1932, Orly was Paris's principal airport until the 1970s.
Terminals & runways
Following a major reorganization completed in 2019, Orly operates a single unified terminal divided into four connected halls, designated Orly 1 through Orly 4, handling both domestic and international flights. The airfield has three runways in a roughly east–west and northeast–southwest configuration. A long-standing nighttime curfew restricts movements between 11:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. to limit noise over surrounding suburbs.
Airlines
Orly functions as a major base for Air France's domestic and medium-haul operations, alongside Transavia France, which uses the airport as its primary hub. Vueling, easyJet, and several North African and overseas-territory carriers maintain a strong presence. Long-haul services connect Orly with the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, North Africa, and parts of the Americas.
