About Eurowings
Eurowings is a German low-cost airline whose present identity developed from a regional carrier founded in 1993 and launched in 1994. It is wholly owned by the Lufthansa Group and has gradually assumed many of the group’s lower-cost, point-to-point services outside the traditional hub model. The airline is headquartered in Cologne and operates under the Eurowings brand alongside affiliated and contracted operators.
Cologne Bonn Airport is closely associated with Eurowings, although the airline functions as a multi-base carrier rather than relying on a single connecting hub. Düsseldorf is one of its largest operating centers, with other important departures from Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart and several additional European airports. Its network focuses on domestic German services, major European cities, Mediterranean holiday destinations and selected longer leisure routes.
The core fleet consists mainly of Airbus A319 and A320-family aircraft, including newer A320neo and A321neo models. These narrow-body jets suit the airline’s short- and medium-haul network, while partner airlines may operate certain flights under wet-lease arrangements. Products are sold through fare categories such as BASIC, SMART and BIZclass, with inclusions varying for baggage, seat selection, flexibility, catering and priority services.
Eurowings is not itself a member of Star Alliance, SkyTeam or Oneworld, although its Lufthansa Group ownership creates useful links with Lufthansa’s wider network and commercial partnerships. Its principal loyalty programme is Miles & More. Members can earn and redeem miles on eligible Eurowings fares, while qualifying customers may receive benefits such as priority services or lounge access depending on status, fare and airport.
A major strength is the breadth of nonstop routes available from German airports that are not Lufthansa’s main Frankfurt and Munich hubs, particularly for leisure travel. The trade-off is a highly unbundled fare structure: the lowest advertised price may exclude a large cabin bag, checked baggage, preferred seating and onboard refreshments. Seasonal schedules and operating partners can also make the experience less uniform between routes.

Company that charges you for check in
Their websites says just that the online check in OPENS 72 hours before departure. No single word about the closing time. We tried to check in over two hours before the departure (like all other flight companies accept), but the website just says it was… See more closed. Therefore we had to check in manually at the airport, and the service desk charges you to check in at the airport. The company used over three months to came back to our claim and they just says that "we was too late". Too late for what? For the NON-CLOSING time? What a shtty company. First and last time with Eurowings.

Horrible airline. Lost my luggage after charging me €50 extra
Luggage lost with no information of the location of the bag two-days later. First of all, the check-in process never gave me an opportunity to add any bags. Once I had checked-in, there was an option, but it warned me that changing anything would remove my… See more check-in. Still, there was no information about what I would be allowed on the plane. Finally downloaded the app that said I had a small cabin bag (as opposed to other airlines that specify under-seat bag). Hours laters whilst trying to board, I'm told that I may not bring on my cabin luggage because I also have a small bag intended to be under my seat. I was forced to pay €50, and the bag was then lost. Still waiting on information.

Think before you book
The tittle says it all. Please dont fly with Eurowings Discover. Booked with Lufthansa, flight operated by Eurowings Discover to Mauritius from Amsterdam with a stopover in Frankfurt. We flew with an old a330-300 (former Lufthansa). We had seats at row 30,… See more emergency exit, paid 100 euo’s extra per person one way, and we had enough space to stretch our legs. This was the only good experience with Eurowings Discover. The food was horrible. The grumpy staff said it was pasta or chicken, it looked and tasted much worse. Could not finish it. In general you feel welcome when you enter a plane, with Eurowings it was the total opposite. Grumpy staff without one single smile during the whole flight. Maybe they had a bad night, but i think you should be proffessional no matter what. 3 drinks during the whole flight, fortunately we broight our own drinks. A cold (!) small bottle of red wine, 8 euro. Strange you need to pay for this, even more strange the bottle was cold. Toilets were horrible. And of course all 4 flights had a delay. My bagage was missing for 12 days, not a single reaction from Eurowings Discover, seems to be normal? If you want to arrive relaxed at your destination, please skip Eurowings discover.

So much illegal behaviour from staff
We ticked 'Special assistance required' as we were travelling with our disable child. No assistance was available throughout any of the airport process, or on board. Further more, they decided to split our disable child with the seat allocation. There are huge… See more safeguarding issues here sitting a non-verbal child between two strangers away from familiar parents. We were given no opportunity to train the strangers on changing his feeding tube / cleaning him etc. On board we also noticed an issue with staff serving nuts to a passenger next to a nut allergic traveller. Despite them raising several concerns. They're the headlines, but the whole process was a s*it-show. I arrived to the desk with 'Eurowings Check In' displaying on the screen, and a man in a Eurowings uniform. He eyed me and my luggage suspiciously. When I said "I'd like to check in please" he looked surprised and said "This isn't a check in desk". I re-checked the screen, and the luggage conveyor belt next to him to check my own sanity, when he asked "What Airline?" I said Eurowings, to which he replied "No, that's not here".... Dressed head to toe in a Eurowings uniform. I honestly nearly asked him if we could do the interaction again, so I could film it. He directed me to some check in machines, which didn't recognise me, but I got them working eventually. Unfortunately this then came up with a "Out of ink, see assistant" message. So back we go to the Eurowings gent from the start. When I told him what had happened, his eyes lit up "Oh, excellent. I can print you those for 30euro each. That's 90 Euros. I'll also take £90 if you want, they're basically the same now aren't they?" No offer of a receipt, or any paper work, and that £90 went straight in his pocket, there's not even a till at the check in desk. The only airline that flew the route we needed so no choice. Loads of legal issues here.

Very positive experience!
After reading the very negative reviews about Eurowings, I felt very anxious to fly with them. I travelled from Birmingham, UK to Prauge which in total is about 2 hours. Online check on the app was very simple and easy to complete. When onboard all staff were… See more friendly and approachable, and there was also plenty of leg room. Take off and landing was very smooth and there was also no delays. I took only a luggage carry on and the only downside is you do have to pay around €40. I would very much recommend Eurowings to anyone who is travelling short haul, and is taking hand luggage. Honestly couldn’t fault my experience, would definitely fly again to another short haul city destination!!
